Kids in Cars
What is the leading cause of non-crash vehicle-related deaths for children under the age of 14? According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, heatstroke is the leading cause. Between 1998 and August 13, 2012, 550 children died when left unattended in hot cars, according to the NHTSA. The bodies of infants and children heat up three to five times faster than those of adults according to a pediatric emergency physician. Parents, don’t leave your children alone in cars. Aside from the risk of other kinds of harm, heatstroke and death or serious personal injury are a very realistic likely outcome. Be a parent, be responsible.
